Surah Al Fath Ayat 26 Translation Tafseer

Para 26 - حٰمٓ

سورة الفتح

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

48.26

اِذْ جَعَلَ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا فِیْ قُلُوْبِهِمُ الْحَمِیَّةَ حَمِیَّةَ الْجَاهِلِیَّةِ فَاَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ سَكِیْنَتَهٗ عَلٰى رَسُوْلِهٖ وَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَ اَلْزَمَهُمْ كَلِمَةَ التَّقْوٰى وَ كَانُوْۤا اَحَقَّ بِهَا وَ اَهْلَهَاؕ-وَ كَانَ اللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَیْءٍ عَلِیْمًا۠ (26)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

˹Dear Beloved Prophet, remember˺ when the disbelievers harboured obstinacy in their hearts like the obstinacy of the ˹Age of˺ Ignorance, [1] ˹but˺ then Allah sent Histranquillity upon His Messenger and the believers, ˹empowering them to˺ uphold the testimony of faith upon them, [2] for they had more right to it and were more deserving of it. And Allah knows everything.

Commentary

The obstinacy of the disbelievers of Makkah was that they prevented the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and the Noble Companions رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُم from entering Makkah and performing ṭawāf (circumambulation) of the Holy Kaʿbah.

The meaning of "word of piety" is “لَآ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَّسُوْلُ اللّٰہ”. It was ascribed to piety because it is the means of attaining piety. From the word of piety being incumbent, we learn that faith and sincerity cannot separate from the Companions of Hudaybiyyah. This entails definitive news about their excellent ending, i.e., piety cannot separate from those Noble Companions رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُم in the world, at the time of death, in the grave, and on the day of resurrection.
